The Silent Speech recently received TWO first place awards for entries in the City of Ventura photo contest!

The Silent Speech started out as a clever name for me (John) to post pictures under and try to start making a name for myself. I figured that if a picture was worth a thousand words, then a really great picture would be worth an entire (silent) speech. It is in that mind frame that I strive to be in every time I pick up a camera, whether at a graduation or wedding, taking pictures of the family, or just stopping at a waterfall beside the road. I was very classically trained in photography, learning EVERYTHING manually, from focusing to setting the shutter speed and it is with this training that I believe I make a better photographer then most. While the use of automatic settings and photoshop can help even the most artistically challenged person end up with a decent photo, I believe my advanced knowledge of my cameras, photography in general and how people react to those cameras is what sets me apart from other photographers.
